We are a custom manufacturer of plantation shutters and other window treatments. We have a very aggressive 5-year growth plan to increase the number of markets served and differentiate our go-to-market strategy. The VP of Finance will report to the President & CEO and will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company.

This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting and budgeting, capital investments, cash management, communication with investors, and banking relationships. The VP of Finance will oversee a small staff, in addition to indirect supervision of others. This is a hands-on position that is critical to our rapidly growing company.

Role Summary


The Vice-President of Finance & Company Controller performs effective risk management and plans the organization’s financial strategy. To be successful in this role, the candidate must be self-motivated, intellectually curious, and desire to improve the status quo. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to financial modeling and analysis. The role will lead all aspects of accounting, financial governance, P&L management, treasury, annual financial planning, and strategic financial planning for new growth, and will be responsible for maintaining an evergreen long-range model for company revenue & expense growth.



Core Responsibilities

§  To ensure the accuracy and completeness of the company’s financial statements and full compliance with all laws and regulations in all jurisdictions in which we do business.
§  To support the President & CEO in ensuring the development and execution of strategies (organic and acquisitive) to create incremental new shareholder value, year-over-year.
§  To provide effective day-to-day oversight of the company’s financial, accounting, treasury management, tax, investor relations, and financial business development activities. 
§  Support People Operations and Manufacturing with benefits & inventory management. 
§  To challenge and contribute constructively to decision-making, using the skills and experience they possess and those expected of an office with a specialty in finance.
§  To exercise independent judgment, reasonable care, skill, and diligence when performing job duties.


Essential Functions

  • §  Accounting: Overseeing the distribution of accurate and timely monthly financial statements including the development of financial plans and forecasts.  The position requires the successful candidate to perform month-end closing entries, complete reconciliations, and complete monthly P&Ls with analysis explaining the results and driving causes.  Annual budgets with semi-annual re-budgeting and year-over-year analysis. 
  • §  Analysis: The successful Candidate:
    • §  Must be able to provide financial and operational analysis.
    • §  Need to identify the need for information and analysis even if it is not requested. (Identify unarticulated needs).
    • §  Must have a strong understanding of inventory, inventory movement, consumption, WIP, finished goods, and determining the cause and validity of variances. 
  • §  Processes: Modifying business processes to improve efficiency for accounting and support personnel and to streamline administrative activities.
  • §  Treasury: Daily cash management and monitoring. Must be able to forecast both customer collections and vendor payments and balance them. Management of the line of credit both drawing from and reducing with payments.  Communicating this information internally, with the bank and vendors is critical.
  • §  Human Resources: Support human resource activities including payroll, and all benefit plans with the annual open enrollment, monthly payments, and reconciliation.
  • §  IT: Must have a strong understanding of typical accounting ERP systems.
  • §  Communication: Interacting with the company’s stakeholders, including its investors, financing partners, and external auditor, including preparing board and bank meeting materials
  • §  Coordinate and complete all annual audit requests as well as update all narratives. Work with outside tax accountants to provide information to create the K-1s. Coordinate the annual R&D study with the 3rd party and the outside tax.
  • §  Manage 401K with TPA and broker. Review and verify annual 5500 and highly compensated employee testing. Complete all administration events i.e., 401 k loans, withdrawals, forfeitures, and enrollments. Schedule broker meetings to satisfy fiduciary responsibilities.
  • §  10+ years of accounting and finance experience with a preference toward individuals that have held broader responsibilities in other areas such as information systems, human resources, and/or operations.
  • §  Prior experience working with a sub-$50M manufacturing company and experience with operational accounting: inventory management, inventory movement, and variance analysis.
  • §  Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, MS Business Central, and MS Power BI is strongly preferred.
  • §  Aptitude for problem-solving with an ability to exercise mature judgment and present and execute solutions.
  • §  Track record of improving systems and/or processes to increase organizational efficiency
  • §  Data-driven and analytical with an understanding of how financial strategy can drive corporate growth and how to build strategic financial plans.
  • §  CPA preferred (not required).
  • §  Experience managing or supporting HR functions.
  • §  Ability to identify and implement administrative cost savings and efficiency improvement projects.
  • §  Bachelor’s in finance or Accounting required.
  • §  Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
  • §  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • §  Must be able to lift to fifteen pounds at times.
  • §  10-15% travel required
