Our Risk and Quality team identifies and assists internal teams to mitigate and control client engagement risks. As part of the team, you’ll provide advice to business teams within PwC on sound contract provisions, standards and approaches in accordance with PwC policies, principles and standards.

Who we're looking for

The Technology and IFS Risk team advises client-facing and internal staff primarily on risk management matters associated with the procurement, development and/or use of technology solutions internally by the firm or as part of the delivery of services to clients. It also advises internal firm functions on general risk management matters.This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to be part of this team and contribute to shaping our direction and evolution as we work to support one of the firm’s key growth areas.You will work as an integral part of this team and be involved in a broad range of activities which will include liaison with internal and client facing partners and staff across the firm’s Lines of Service, as well as other parts of the firm including UKIT, Independence, Compliance, the Office of General Counsel (OGC), Procurement and the Risk Management Teams in each Lineof Service.The role will entail supporting the Technology and IFS Risk team to:

Work with project teams to identify, assess and advise on mitigations for risk concerns relating to new Technology related solutions, as well as navigate the firm’s various approval processes to obtain sign-off for these new solutions;
Provide general risk management advice to internal firm functions and be the first point of contact, escalating issues when appropriate
The Senior Associate will operate flexibly as a member of the Technology and IFS Risk team so that the peaks and troughs in workload and differing priorities across the team can be addressed effectively.The person we are looking for will be a solutions oriented individual and will have:

An understanding of the firm’s Technology strategy
Effective oral and written communication with the ability to provide well-reasoned and self-assured responses to partners and staff across the firm
Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, even when under pressure, and open to work in a changing environment
Ability to work as part of a team, including sharing and collaborating effectively with others, as well as creating a positive team spirit
Empathy with the pressures and motivations of client facing colleagues and an ability to win their support with pragmatic advice without compromising on ‘quality/non-negotiables’
A good understanding of the role of risk management in helping an organisation achieve its business goals

About the role

The Senior Associate will be part of the Technology and IFS Risk team ultimately reporting to the UK firm Risk Management Leader, although day to day management will be provided by a Manager / Senior Manager within the team.The role will involve the following activities/ responsibilities:

Work with others within the team to help business teams through the clearance and approval process for procurement, development and/or use of new technology solutions. You will help teams to articulate technology risks for the solution and to engage with specialist functions in the firm to identify mitigation measures;
Take ownership of the administrative tasks for projects going through the Technology risk approval process including setting up and populating the appropriate filing structure for the documentation and keeping relevant trackers up to date;
Support in providing general risk management advice to partners and staff within the IFS functions;
Take an active role in supporting the Technology and IFS Risk Management team operations including things like: supporting the
delivery of key strategic projects, communications, process improvement, knowledge sharing etc.

Essential skills:

An empathetic, solutions focused, pragmatic approach, combined with an ability to apply quality standards and recognise risk “non-negotiables”
A good understanding of the role of risk management in helping an organisation achieve its business goals
A drive to keep up to date in a fast paced technology landscape and a sound understanding of how technology can drive efficiency, augment existing services and open new opportunities for the business
Ability to interact with and effectively facilitate a wide range of stakeholders at all levels within multiple functions, both technical and
non-technical, across all grades, whilst building strong relationships
Ability to analyse and document processes, to identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and successfully influence change.
Excellent numeracy and data handling skills with strong attention to detail
Effective oral and written communication with the ability to provide well-reasoned and self-assured responses to stakeholders
Ability to work as part of a team, including sharing and collaborating effectively with others, as well as creating a positive team spirit;
A desire to work within a diverse team, with good self-management skills and an ability to take initiative but keep others informed of progress and escalate issues where appropriate;

Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable, although not essential:

Technical IT
Information security
Software development
Commercial contracting (i.e. an ability to clearly articulate the purchasing or selling of goods and services, which can then be reviewed
by OGC for sign-off)
Implementing Digital, Analytics and Technology related projects
