SVP, Credit Portfolio Group Manager (Strategy Lead)

The Credit Portfolio Group Manager is a senior management-level position responsible for managing credit and underwriting strategies, including Balance Transfer, Spend Engagement, Product Trade, Inactive Closure, and other credit policies, with the goal of optimally balancing risk-return and customer engagement while ensuring the strategies operate under Citis risk appetite.

The incumbent will be focused on setting the strategic direction for credit policies, leading credit optimization and risk mitigation initiatives, day-to-day maintenance, and oversight of credit programs. The individual will be responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team.


+ Set the long-term vision and agenda for credit strategies under the purview of this role

+ Manage risk levels for the entire credit spectrum across multiple products, consistent with program financial goals

+ Lead and develop a team of risk analysts and manage complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas

+ Apply quantitative/ statistical concepts to develop, test, optimize and implement credit policies

+ Maintain end-to-end oversight for performance of credit strategies. Track and report on various initiatives, performance results, emerging trends and opportunities to senior management

+ Lead the development of best-in-class, next generation credit strategies

+ Influence leadership with analytically driven recommendations

+ Establish cross-functional partnerships and networks in order to support the execution of business initiatives

+ Collaborate with risk financial forecasting teams, to conduct cost of credit analyses and monitor loss performance vis--vis expectations

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


+ 7+ years of experience in credit risk management or equivalent training preferred

+ Experience in the financial services industry preferred

+ Demonstrated accountability for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions

+ Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

+ Proven negotiation skills often used at a senior level

+ Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency

+ Ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences

+ People management experience


+ Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

+ Master's degree preferred
