Silicon Validation/Software Engineer Memory Controller / DRAM

 

THE ROLE:

As a Silicon Validation/Software Engineer, you will work with on Memory Controller Firmware, developing new power saving/performance/Signal Integrity related features. You will develop expertise on the Memory Controller and PHY design and the details of DRAM behavior across different vendors and technologies. You will work with Pre-Silicon Verification and Emulation to qualify your Firmware features, and support post-silicon debug efforts.

 

THE PERSON:

This is a high visibility role in a challenging, fast-paced environment where clarity of communication, diligence in debug and problem solving skills are essential. You should have enjoy participating in Post-Silicon Debug, and writing production quality Firmware. You should enjoy solving ambiguous problems that use your depth and breadth of technical knowledge.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop Firmware for Controller Initialization, DRAM Training /Calibration and Power Management features
  • Write C-based Firmware for new features/modes that will be tested in simulation and on silicon
  • Debug Silicon during bring-up, digging into issues across blocks and feature sets
  • Communicate technical issues clearly when working across geographies, time-zones and business units

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with cross functional teams to support product development in highly time sensitive situations
  • Highly skilled at embedded C
  • Familiar with RTL Simulation environments - we test a lot of our Firmware features in Simulation before Si is available.
  • Skilled at devising debug experiments on platform especially with scope captures and the ability to decipher the captures.
  • Some experience with DRAM Technologies / Other High Speed off-chip interfaces is preferred
  • Scripting skills in Perl/Python - essential for quick reliable and repeatable debug
  • Experience coding in Assembly is a plus

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • B.S with 8 years experience or M.S. with 6 years experience is Required
  • BS / MS / Ph.D in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or Computer Science is Preferred
