**Role Overview:**


The Operational Risk Manager provides full leadership and supervisory responsibility. Provides operational/service leadership and direction to team(s). Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services. May contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Generally has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results and shared responsibility for planning and budgets.


The goal of the Operations Control Governance team is to develop and maintain a comprehensive process to proactively identify and reduce operational risk. As a member of the Operations Control team, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and maintenance of these processes with their main focus being the identification and reduction of risk within areas impacting the ICG Operations teams. Risk areas include but are not limited to BAU Operational process, Regulatory requirements, Internal Policy adherence, New Business initiatives and Internal & External Audit exam participation.


Partnering with operations line staff, this role will be responsible for assisting in the proactive management of operating risk and remediation of control issues. This requires co-ordination across numerous internal operations teams, as well as various other support and control groups within all lines of defense within the organization


**Responsibilities:**


+ Establishes and oversees the application of operational risk policies, technology and tools, and governance processes to create lasting solutions for minimizing losses from failed internal processes, inadequate controls, and emerging risks.

+ Point of contact for ICG Operations staff for Control related activities.

+ Identify & assess the risks & controls within operational processes to support the proposal of new business initiatives across multiple ICG Operation areas.

+ Communicate and coordinate with impacted operational, functional and support areas to determine if there are any risks, concerns or conditions with applicable Regulations, Policies & Procedures.

+ Management and oversight of Operations Regulatory requirements, ensuring potential risks are sufficiently remediated.

+ Challenge operational processes and the related risks to ensure all relevant risks are identified and controls are in place.

+ Create and distribute qualitative and quantitative reporting associated with Operations activity.

+ Communicate results of assessments and present findings to Senior Management.

+ Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

+ Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

+ Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.

+ Ability to manage teams.

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


**Job Skills / Qualifications:**


+ Relevant experience of Financial Crimes, AML Investigations, or Operational Risk experience.

+ Willingness to question/challenge existing processes and ensure a satisfactory outcome.

+ Ability to present a compelling case to influence others where appropriate

+ Teamwork skills in working with diverse Control officers across regions

+ Proficient in metrics/Key Risk Indicators (KRI) assessment and reporting

+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.

+ Ability to work under pressure managing tight deadlines and/or unexpected changes.

+ Excellent communication and relationship skills across all management levels especially Senior Operations Management.

+ Analytical with great attention to detail and strong problem solving skills

+ Knowledge and experience working within ICG Operations/ Risk & Control.
