The Compliance Anti Money Laundering Risk Management Officer is a senior professional level role responsible for establishing internal procedures to prevent money laundering and assist in all matters concerning financial crimes in coordination with the broader Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team. The overall objective is to utilize established disciplinary knowledge to identify inconsistencies in data or result and formulate strategic recommendations on policies, procedures, and practices.


+ Identify, vet and address potential risks or escalated issues with the assistance of functional partners

+ Collaborate with the team to provide advice to business with respect to applicability of policies and implementation of AML program and regulatory changes

+ Provide input/advice on business initiatives, new products, and complex transactions

+ Supervise and participate in internal assurance processes such as Enterprise wide AML risk assessment, self-assessment, and internal audit

+ Promote global consistency of AML ACRM practices and policies within business line and cross-sector

+ Analyze data, prepare and present regional/global reports related to AML risk assessments, and monitor AML related issues and escalations

+ Develop and implement AML Compliance Risk Management (ACRM) standards and policies

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


+ 6-10 years of experience

+ Anti-Money Laundering (AML) certification required

+ Working knowledge of regulatory requirements including local, US, and international laws

+ Working knowledge of industry standards and practices

+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

+ Required Language Level: Japanese - Advanced Level (Can communicate like a native speakerand perform complex tasks), English - Advanced Level (Can communicate like a native speaker andperform complex tasks)


+ Bachelors Degree/University degree or equivalent experience

+ Masters degree preferred

This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed. Other job-related duties may be assigned as required.

+ Managing all aspects of KYC/ASF risks in Japan including guidance and advice needed in the application and implementation of KYC Policies and Standards including the ones related to ASF Policy.

+ Developing local KYCASF policies and internal procedures control governance in Japan.

+ Providing expert KYCASF advices to Business in Japan in relation to the risks associated with new products and new businesses to design the necessary mitigating controls related to KYCASF risks.

+ Understanding and maintaining awareness of applicable AMLASF laws regulations guidelines including U.S. law and local law international standards and industry leading practices.

+ Building and maintaining sustainable operating model by providing timely and practical guidance and supervision in client due diligence and enhanced due diligence for high risk customers.

+ Defining and providing strategic coordination and effective implementation of a framework of KYCASF controls in Japan.

+ Establishing minimum standards for Japan business including training requirements and training material development and delivery of KYCASF risks and monitor its implementation.

+ Establishing oversight and gain assurance of the end to end KYCASF compliance landscape and infrastructure in Japan.

+ Assisting in developing implementing and monitoring KYCASF risk indicators and metrics.

+ Responsible for running the Japan AML KYC team in sustainable form.
