Job Description: Corporate Tax Manager
Purpose: We are looking for a highly driven Corporate Tax Manager to ensure that local, state and federal tax documents are prepared and filed in a timely manner. The Corporate Tax Manager’s responsibilities include developing solutions for potential tax issues, keeping abreast of new developments in tax legislation, and informing Senior Management of new legislative developments. You should also be able to advise on tax planning, tax research, and tax compliance for both the U.S. and Canada.
To be successful as a tax manager, you should be able to manage multiple projects efficiently. Ultimately, an outstanding tax manager should be able to identify opportunities to compliantly support the grow the company’s business while adding value by developing and executing strategies to minimize the company’s tax liability.
Essential Duties:
• Accurately preparing and filing, or assisting with the preparation and filing, of federal, state tax and local returns in a timely manner.
• Developing tax strategies to ensure the company’s compliance with all tax applicable regulations.
• Identifying tax problems and developing solutions which can be practically applied in an economical manner by the company.
• Completing responses and schedules in preparation for income tax audits.
• Monitoring developments in tax legislation and developing solutions to take advantage of tax legislation to benefit the company.
• Reviewing any tax returns which are not prepared by the company/are prepared by tax advisors for the company.
• Informing senior management and internal customers of developments in tax legislation.
• Supervising members of the tax team to ensure that all tax activities (including all required tax filings) are completed in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner.
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal customers and vendors (especially outside tax advisors).

Requirements

Core Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, finance, business or related field.
• Proven experience as a tax manager, public accountant or similar role.
• Knowledge of and experience in sales & use tax
• Knowledge of and experience in property tax
• Knowledge of and experience in business licenses
• Extensive knowledge of tax legislation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• The ability to work with different taxation software.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Sound problem-solving skills.
Work Experience
• 10+ years’ experience minimum
Preferred Qualifications:
• Related Industry experience
Education, Certificates, Licenses, or Designations
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related degree required. Master’s in taxation (MST), CPA or J.D. preferred
• Public accounting experience preferred
Specific Skills
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Familiarity with Vertex sales tax software (preferred)
• Familiarity with PTSM property tax software (preferred)
Work Environment: While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works indoors and may be required to sit for long periods. Individual will be required to regularly talk, hear, see and often reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level of the environment is generally quiet. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
