In Deals we solve the important problems that stand in the way of value being created, sustained, realised or protected for our clients - working together to aid responsible recovery and growth.

We put together major mergers and acquisitions and resolve business crises - from international take-over bids to financial crime investigations and cases of insolvency. A career in our Infrastructure and Government practice, within Deals Corporate Finance services, will provide you the opportunity to deliver innovative deal solutions to our clients, providing advice and support, from initiation through to deal completion. In short, we’re a part of helping some of the world’s leading companies across industries originate, create, execute, and realise value from deals. Through data driven insights we help our clients move in the right direction ensuring maximum value for their company. Our team helps public sector clients finance, deliver and operate projects in a cost effective and efficient fashion. As part of our team, you’ll help our client with procurement strategies, project structuring, financing and negotiations.

About the role

As a Senior Associate within the team, the individual would be expected to be involved in the following types of work: 

  • Day to day project work on live transactions (e.g. drafting information memoranda, contacting potential purchasers, and liaising with clients, lawyers, due diligence providers) 

  • Business development activities including identification and targeting of potential opportunities 

  • Financial modelling and analysis of transactions 

  • Commercial due diligence and economic feasibility analysis

  • Performing valuations, returns analysis 

  • Preparation of client presentations and pitch documents 

  • Financial and commercial bid preparation and evaluation 

  • Undertaking contract negotiations with, and on behalf of, clients

  • Industry / company specific research

  • Project options appraisals

  • Investment feasibility analysis, business case development and options appraisal analysis

  • Day to day project work on live transactions throughout the project lifecycle (business case, procurement, financing and post deal services)

  • Developing and maintaining internal and external networks 

  • Managing project risk and quality tasks and admin, such as billing

Requirements

  • Intellectual curiosity with an appetite to learn new skills and markets 

  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to think laterally and utilise new technology

  • Ability to grasp complex commercial issues quickly 

  • Excellent client-facing communication skills and history of significant client exposure (internal within your organisation or external)

  • High ambition coupled with the ability to deliver and to work effectively in teams 

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to also see the big picture 

  • Good commercial judgement and independence of mind 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence when interacting with others 

  • Ability to work accurately under time pressure and manage multiple commitments 

  • Enthusiasm for participating  in marketing and business development 

Desirable skills 

  • Experience of financial modelling (either developing or reviewing)

  • Experience within an infrastructure, government, M&A, project finance or commercial finance role
