As a senior key member of our Project Management and Accounting Team, you'll provide the day-to-day support and execution of project control function. This position will be responsible for defining the tasks necessary to ensure projects receive the level of support necessary to meet performance targets, which includes cost estimation, scheduling/ planning, spending planning, progress monitoring and analysis, monitoring and analysis of resource utilization, project accounting, forecasting, reporting, documentation, and risk management.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Working knowledge of GAAP for revenue recognition pertaining to job completion and accrual process.
  • Works independently and demonstrates ability to apply professional judgment on project related accounting matters.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost improvements and internal benchmarking within and outside of areas of accountability.
  • Provides mentoring, coaching and guidance to direct reports.
  • Oversees the work of other Project Controls team members to ensure compliance with applicable project-based processes and procedures.
  • Represents the Accounting department as a key contact on project accounting technical matters.
  • Continually monitors and evaluates each step of a project to ensure that it is meeting budgetary and deadline goals.
  • Works alongside members of the Project Management team to support project planning, proposal writing, project tracking, client invoicing, as well as the creation and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Prepares Estimate-At-Completion (EAC) and variance analysis [budget vs actual]
  • Drives project profitability and other performance metrics
  • Provides project cost trend analysis of actual versus potential cost, review financial commitments incurred to predict future revenues and expenses to help identify budget over-runs and cost savings initiatives.
  • Participates in monthly financial review meetings with executive team, including analysis, comments, and recommendations.
  • Works closely with accounts payable, payroll and billing accounting personnel to ensure the proper accounting and reporting of project revenue and expenses.
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process, including preparing month end journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.


  • College degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • A minimum of ten years work experience managing the project control function
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Effectively communicates with operations and senior management.
  • Highly analytical-capable of both performing analysis as well as analyzing work prepared by others.
  • Collaborates with others to accomplish goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of construction industry technical and accounting matters
  • Hands on experience and working knowledge of Dynamics SL preferred
