CONTROLLER / CPA – Texas (Faith Based Organization)

Talent Select, LLC has been retained by a featured faith based nonprofit organization to identify and facilitate the hiring of a Controller. This essential leader will oversee the Finance Department and work closely with Senior Leadership, reporting to the President.

Role Overview: This role will be accountable for the financial integrity of a $18M+ 501C3 and 501C4 organization and its entities. The Controller will ensure primary day-to-day operations run efficiently in the background while they primarily serve in a strategic role to Senior Leadership by leveraging sophisticated analytics and modeling to deliver accurate financial intelligence at a moment’s notice. It is essential for the Controller to have mastery of an analytics system that invites and successfully processes inquiries in real-time, guide vital discussions for the financial health of the organization, and provides expert insight for senior leadership to make better decisions with the intent of fiscal responsibility.

What You’ll Do:

  • Planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities within a vertically integrated structure across a multi-state area.
  • Day-to-day cash flow management and projections, budgeting, financial statement preparations, forecasting, P&L, AR/AP, payroll, transaction and revenue reconciliation.
  • Overseeing and ensuring accuracy of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reporting
  • Facilitating budget reports
  • Prepare and manage clean government audits
  • Provide financial intelligence by use of Budget Maestro and FP&A software
  • Financial modeling and trend analysis with present and future outputs within multiple scenarios
  • Preserve and advance regulatory compliance requirements to include fraud prevention tools
  • Manage multiple direct reports
  • Interface with internal clients and high-ranking government officials

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Master’s Degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA Certification (non-negotiable)
  • 5-8 years of nonprofit accounting managerial experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Excel or Google Sheets
  • Proficiency with Budget Maestro and FP&A software
  • Familiarity with Agile Operational Philosophy
  • Ability to travel at select times throughout the year for ‘boots on the ground’ financial insight
