Kopp Glass, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of high-performance, custom glass products, is seeking to hire a dynamic senior-level financial executive with a broad base of relevant experience, strong qualifications and proven ability to manage complex challenges across multiple business functions in a manufacturing environment, including: accounting, finance, treasury, investor relations, payroll, enterprise risk management, competitive strategy, strategic planning and execution, talent management, and supply chain. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO provides timely, accurate, relevant and independent performance information to the CEO and the Board of Directors. The CFO manages key financial, compliance, and administrative functions within the company and works closely with the CEO to support all financial and business matters, as well as growth strategy, business systems, human resources, data privacy and security compliance, legal, financial and operational issues. An exceptional leader of both people and process, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to envision, initiate, build and lead appropriate coalitions to drive and embed change in support of sustainable, long-term business growth and enhanced profitability.

Requirements

The CFO will play a key role in executing our transformative technology-driven business strategy to bring the company from the present to the future. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong ethics, and demonstrate a ‘roll up the sleeves’ approach to getting things done and will thrive in a collaborative, fast paced environment, with at least ten years of applicable senior level experience in a small-to-medium sized manufacturing company or division. This position requires someone who is a true leader; someone who is action-oriented, demonstrably committed to always learning how to improve themselves, and who takes initiative with a sense of urgency. We are looking for a self-disciplined, self-accountable person who can handle details, motivate and inspire others, while effectively managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Leverages data and analytics to double down on what is working and to continually optimize areas of opportunity by working cross-functionally to align internal business processes involved in product realization, such as: pricing strategy, order fulfillment, production scheduling, process improvement, research and development (R&D) portfolio and initiative management, and financial planning.
  • Proactively communicates and delivers insights to core leadership team and constructively challenges status quo market/customer assumptions, highlighting impacts to the business and the opportunities/threats presented; demonstrates a broad level of risk sensitivity and understands the potential implications of unknowns.
  • Develops, monitors and evaluates overall corporate strategy with the CEO and core leadership team that is optimized and responsive to changes in external environment, emerging technology trends and optimized for peak profitability; emphasis on enhancing long-term stakeholder value through development, refinement and monitoring of appropriate KPIs.
  • Financial planning and forecasting including liquidity, growth, and congruence with the business strategy.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in the preparation and presentation of succinct, organized and well written high-quality reports that are understandable to the Board of Directors and other users of the information.
  • Implement and lead an enterprise-level risk management program to identify and mitigate all forms of risk, working with appropriate external advisors, counsel, and internal leadership, to manage the degree of exposure to liabilities and risks, such as:
    • Assess and advise on financial and legal risks associated with business initiatives, proactively develop financial and legal risk mitigation strategies.
    • Identifying and managing contractual risks, primarily with customers and suppliers, through knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).
    • Identifying Labor/Employment Practices risks
    • Product Liability, including training employees on best practices to mitigate potential risks.
    • Tangible asset protection policies (theft, fraudulent activity, etc.)
    • Intangible asset protection policies (Intellectual property, etc.)
    • Operating risks, including: Supply Chain, Disaster Recovery, utility heading (natural gas and electric), and environmental (EPA, PA DEP & ACHD).
    • Labor/Talent Availability
    • IT/Cyber Risk; malware, IP theft, etc.
    • Monitors accounting developments and their applicability to the company (FASB, SEC, PCAOB, IAS, etc); advises the business on accounting, compliance and control gaps and work with them to find sustainable solutions.
    • Working closely with the CEO, execute programs and initiatives to continuously improve our human capital, enhance the company’s ability to attract, retain, and engage top talent, and the oversight of existing formal talent management, leadership development and succession strategies for critical roles within the company.
    • Provide insight and analysis to support the CEO, the Board of Director’s, and the Management team; ensuring business decisions are grounded in sound financial criteria.
    • Provide financial and operating forecasts and information enabling the company to develop short and long-term strategic plans to grow and improve profitability.
    • Manage relationships with outside auditors, actuaries, investment advisors, counsel, banks, investors, consultants, insurance brokers, and other advisors.
    • Intimately understand and effectively influence the operational and financial profit levers that drive the Company’s performance.
    • Ensure effective internal controls are in place for compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
    • Acts as fiduciary manager oversight of Pension and 401 (k) plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Senior Finance Leader in a small to medium sized manufacturing firm with oversight finance and administrative functions.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • A strong knowledge of ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Awareness and general understanding of various legal areas, including contract law (UCC), Labor and employment law, OSHA Compliance, Intellectual Property Protection, Workers Compensation, and ERISA Compliance.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
