Company Profile:

The company is a financially strong, growing, U.S. based manufacturing company with approximately 600 employees and facilities in multiple states and Mexico. They have a dominant position in their markets with a well-known brand. They are privately (family) owned. They are headquartered in Henderson, Nevada. The job is open due to the planned retirement of the current CFO, who will provide a good transition for the selected candidate. The company name is confidential for now. Recruiting is being performed by a retained consultant.

Job Summary:

Direct all corporate activities regarding the creation and maintenance of effective financial management systems, human resources programs, and information technology systems to provide for the continued growth and stability of the company. This position currently has 4 direct reports and 15 indirect. The selected candidate will come into the job as CFO. The current CFO will move to a temporary, transitional position followed by full retirement. Competitive salary ($250,000 to $350,000/yr) and benefits with an excellent incentive plan.

Major Job Duties:

  1. Direct an effective financial management program including accounting, budgeting, financial planning, auditing, taxes, property administration, financing, cash management, as well as the preparation of the company’s annual operating plan.
  2. Develop and maintain financial controls at all remote manufacturing facilities.
  3. Manage the Finance, IT, and Human Resources Departments through subordinate managers. This includes staffing, training, performance evaluations, and discipline.
  4. Thought / Strategy Partner with executive leadership.
  5. Assist in implementing and coordinating corporate objectives and strategy.
  6. Direct the preparation and authorize the release of financial data developed for the Board of Directors to lending institutions and other appropriate entities or individuals.
  7. Represent the company to establish and maintain sound relationships with outside financial institutions.
  8. Provide all levels of management with business plans, operational analysis and / or financial data as needed.
  9. Direct all human resources activities within established policies and procedures, using legal counsel as necessary.
  10. Direct all merger and acquisition activity.
  11. Handle all banking relationships for the corporation.
  12. Risk and Compliance Management.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Please note that being currently situated in or relocating to the greater Las Vegas area is a requirement of this position. This is not a remote position. 

Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred.

Certification: A CPA, CFA, or CMA certification would be helpful.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of CFO, Finance Vice-President, or Divisional CFO experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment for a company with sales in excess of $100 million.
  • Experience with both public and private firms is a plus.
  • Experience in a family owned firm is a plus.
  • Having a background in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry would be helpful.
  • M&A experience with due diligence is helpful.
  • A solid background with negotiations and contract management is preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle systems is preferred.
  • As HR and IT will be managed through subordinate managers, advanced experience with these functions is not required, but would be a plus.

Skills / Competencies: The candidate must be able to quickly develop strong working relationships with company leadership and business partners such as banks, insurance agencies, audit firms, and others. The candidate must possess outstanding computer skills with advanced skills in Excel.
