Position Summary:

 

The Assistant Director of Accounting Shared Services is a newly created role to support our Accounting Shared Services operations, located in Kansas City, Missouri.  The Assistant Director of Accounting Shared Services will work with the Director to lead our Shared Services departments to their most optimal state in terms of accuracy, controls and efficiency by designing and implementing best-in-class practices. In order to achieve optimization in the Accounting Shared Services departments, which include Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, the Assistant Director will thoroughly understand the processes within the Shared Services operation and their impact on other MHC operations.


Position Responsibility:

 

 

 

  1. Develops and maintains working knowledge of industry trends and business best practices through networking and continuing education. Designs and implements best-in-class practices and Key Performance Indicators that drive standardization, controls and automation.

  2. Assists in designing and implementing operational practices and system designs that drive accuracy, controls and efficiency within Shared Services. Works with Shared Services supervisors to implement and monitor performance metrics to ensure that transactions are processed accurately and efficiently, and that reporting meets user needs.

  3. Collaborates with business partners such as third party vendors and department leaders to identify and prioritize the delivery of new business capabilities and optimize existing capabilities. Ensures impacted users are adequately trained in the usage of systems.

  4. Partners with other organizational leaders to achieve successful implementation of key initiatives as related to Shared Services, ensuring processes are appropriately understood and accounted for in accordance with Company policies. Works with leadership to identify and resolve issues.

  5. Supports the Director of Accounting Shared Services in maintaining department policies and internal controls, including review and quality assurance processes. Ensures processes adhere to policy and internal control best practices and auditstandards. Makes recommendations for improvements if current processes are insufficient.

  6. Oversees the analysis and compliance of the Company’s Profit Sharing Plan.

  7. Performs research and resolution for Problem Reports and handles other trouble-shooting assignments, as needed.

  8. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director.


Qualifications:

 

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related field, preferred.

  2. Minimum four years working in transactional accounting environment preferred, with at least three years of leadership experience.

  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively design and implement projects and processes.

  4. Significant expertise in accounting processes and their impact on business, financial statements and overall control environment. Ability to work with multiple data points or missing data to arrive and communicate appropriate decisions, as well as using root causes of problems to take corrective and preventive actions.

  5. Strong customer service-orientation with the ability to understand and react to the differing needs of diverse stakeholders.

  6. Excellent communication, analytical and process management skills with a strong attention to detail.

  7. Excellent prioritization and organization skills to balance time and resources across different priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
