Underwriter/Senior Underwriter - Management Liability

 Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible to profitably grow their respective portfolio through strong broker relationships within the management liability space
• Accountable for the solicitation, underwriting and execution of a large portfolio of D&O (Public and Private), EPL, Fiduciary, Commercial Crime and Kidnap & Ransom business
• Review and negotiate policy terms and conditions including manuscript wording
• Mentor members of the Toronto Management Liability team as a key point of contact for authority sign off
• Recommend and execute on innovative concepts to improve the efficiency of the management liability renewal process and general ease of doing business for our customers
• Lead account rounding efforts through upselling additional lines of coverage to renewal business
• Ensure proper organization and documentation of each underwriting file
• Perform related duties as requested to include, but not limited to, report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit

Required Skills and Experience:

• University degree or equivalent is required
• A minimum of 3 – 4 years of insurance industry experience that includes working experience with financial line products
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures within financial lines
• Self-starter with strong analytical skills, in addition to strong business and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong market and broker relationships and ability to develop and drive new business opportunities.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Relevant insurance designations and education is an asset.
• Proven ability to profitably grow a portfolio of business
