Summary Description: The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University invites applications for two full-time positions at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline or Senior Lecturer in Discipline to teach in the MS Program in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This position will begin on July 1, 2017. This is a full-time appointment with multi-year renewal contingent on successful review.Lecturers/Senior Lecturers in Discipline will teach courses related to ERM in one or more of the following areas that focus on strategic, operational, financial, and insurance risk:-value-based ERM-traditional risk and ERM practices-external stakeholder requirements-operational risk-financial risk-insurance risk-company failures-systemic risk-ERM modelingSuccessful candidates will exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and professional practice and/or scholarship. The ideal candidate will hold a master's degree in risk management, finance, business, or another area related to ERM and hold an actuarial designation such as FSA or FCAS. Candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have substantial experience and accomplishments, and a superlative record of teaching as a lecturer, and documented evidence of pedagogical excellence in carrying out administrative or other department responsibilities. Candidates at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have teaching experience, documented evidence of pedagogical excellence, and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field. Minimum Qualifications: All applicants must meet these minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.
Preferred Qualifications: -An actuarial designation such as FSA or FCAS is strongly preferred. -A master's degree in risk management, finance, business, or another area related to ERM is preferred. -Experience teaching in a graduate program or teaching mid-career professionals preferred.
